Solutions Is mobile datacommunication an essential resource in your processes?
Then you want to be sure you can rely on it and your processes won't be interrupted by for example failures, congestion or coverage issues.
FIGO: Robust and secure mobile datacommunication
FIGO is a wireless and mobile network, that has been optimized for critical applications. FIGO ensures that the communication in and with the field can always continue, even in the most difficult circumstances. With FIGO you are sure you have access to the information needed for your decisions.
How it works
Using a FIGO network is not so much different from any other network. You establish a connection with a router (FIGO Mobile Node), which directs you to a server (FIGO Back Office Node), which provides you with access to the internet and your business information systems & applications.
- The FIGO Mobile Node (MN) is an intelligent wireless & mobile router for use in the field. The router is able to support your communication need over multiple communication infrastructures. When a particular connection is (temporary) unavailable due to for example failures, congestion or coverage issues of the network, there is always a back-up connection available. The router automatically selects the best connection for you, so you can continue your activities.

- The FIGO Back Office Node (BON) is the server in the FIGO netwerk. It is the central element in the FIGO network. The Back Office Node is the gateway between the mobile network and the office network. It provides you with access to the internet and to the business information systems and applications in your office network. It also collects information from the field (for example position information).

What makes a FIGO network more reliable than other networks?
The central idea behind FIGO is that each connection can be established in multiple ways. So there is always a back-up connection available in case of (temporary) unavailability of another connection (for example due to failures, congestion or coverage issues). This creates redundancy in the network and provides certainty to the users of the network.
The redundancy is created in two ways:
1. FIGO uses multiple communication infrastructures (for example UMTS from operator Y, UMTS from operator X, WiFi, SatCom, etc.). The router automatically selects the best connection for your communication need.

2. In addition FIGO automatically creates a local (mesh) network between FIGO Mobile Nodes. In this network each Mobile Node can forward information to another Mobile Node. It is an extension of the already available networks (see image 'Extension of the network'). Probably the most important feature of this local (mesh) network is that is always available, even when all telecommunication infrastructures will be down (see image 'a dedicated local network').
